Human psychology has always fascinated me. It's always been about the "why" aspect of it for me, because it helps me to better understand people and their motives when I wouldn't have a clue otherwise. The unfortunate part that so many forget about the soft sciences is that it does not give a definitive answer, just a suggestion judging by past trends in human behavior. Admittedly, I have a strong belief in Freudian theory. For those of you who do not know who Sigmund Freud is, he was a strong believer in the idea that occurrences in early childhood directly correlates with our personalities we develop as adults. Have you ever heard of someone making a Freudian slip of the tongue? This basically means that sometimes things that are said on accident convey ideas that we have but we do not share. For example, if someone intended to say, "good luck with your mother" but has strong negative feelings toward said mother, it may come out as something as vulgar as, "...f*ck your mother". Sounds dramatic, but that's actually the example my high school psychology teacher used.
While human psychology interests me so strongly, I think it is important to understand the importance of humans as unique individuals, rather than grouping and generalizing them. People are very complex creatures and to stray away from that truth is bound to be damaging. So I think that's why, although I analyze others often, I have to take a step back and appreciate people for exactly who I know them to be.
